Elsewhere keeps imported photos, videos, documents, filenames, albums, preferences and optional activity history in encrypted local libraries. Different entry credentials open independent libraries. There is no Elsewhere account, cloud sync, online sharing or developer-operated media server in this version. We do not receive your library files or entry gestures. The vault directory and files are marked to be excluded from device backups.
Imports copy files; Elsewhere does not delete originals from Photos, Files, iCloud or other apps. Originals and exports may contain metadata such as capture location. You decide whether to delete source copies. Camera and document scanning are used only when selected and require device permission.
Activity history is off by default. If enabled, an encrypted library retains up to 200 local summaries of actions, times and counts, not filenames, entry gestures or sign-in attempts. Turning it off stops new entries; clearing it removes saved history.
Preview and export can create readable temporary copies for iOS viewers and sharing. Elsewhere attempts to remove temporary copies after dismissal, locking and next launch. Files sent to another app or person are outside Elsewhere's protection and cannot be recalled.
Recently Deleted keeps encrypted items until restoration or confirmed permanent deletion. Deletion removes app references and queues ciphertext cleanup; this is not a guarantee of physical flash erasure. A recovery code works only with the same installation, device key and original app data. It is not a backup. Uninstalling, resetting or losing the phone can make files inaccessible. Support cannot reconstruct missing keys. Export important originals separately.
Elsewhere 1.0 is free. This version does not show ads, sell in-app purchases, or include Google Mobile Ads, Google's consent SDK, or RevenueCat. Browsing, importing, organizing, recovery and export do not require payment. We do not send library media, filenames, credentials or library identifiers to an advertising or purchase-management service.
When you email [email protected], the mailbox provider processes your address, message and attachments to answer your request. Do not send private files, entry gestures, recovery codes or full device logs. These public pages are hosted by Notion, which may process visit and service data under its privacy policy.
Depending on applicable law, you may request information about data you voluntarily sent to support and ask for correction or deletion. We may verify your identity proportionately, but will not request encryption keys. Contact the address above with privacy questions.
Encryption and a private entrance cannot prevent screenshots, an observed gesture, compromised-device access or disclosure of an exported copy. Material changes to this policy will be reflected in an updated effective date.
